Event Details

Kickoff your 4th of July weekend and honor all veterans by walking the walk in support of American Women Veterans www.americanwomenveterans.org

Join us for a 5 mile hike around the monuments of DC: We start on the North Lawn in front of the White House and end at the Iwo Jima Memorial in Arlington with stops along the way at WWII, Korea, Vietnam and other memorials. Why ride when you can walk?

The first Twitter crowdsourced #mmmmtdc was on April 15, 2011 - check out some pics here: http://twitpic.com/4lcpig and http://twitpic.com/4le0e9

The hashtag stands for "Midnight Moonlight Madness Monument Tour DC" - taking advantage of great weather and a beautiful city.

Get up, move and show your support on this planned walk (and pull out your rusty land navigation skills!). We have two routes mapped - one for the full 5 miles, the other with a Metro detour for those who would like a shorter distance. We will all meet at the Iwo Jima Memorial at the end.

We will provide detailed maps at the start of the event and metro back from Rosslyn at end.

Bring your boots, snacks, cameras and water. Get out from behind your swivel chair and leave the keyboards behind!

Donations before and after the event for American Women Veterans are highly encouraged. Suggested donation is $20 but give what you can. If you can't make the walk but would like to show your support, please donate and tweet the donation link and hashtag: #mmmmtdc, to encourage others to join/donate.

American Women Veterans Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting women veterans of all eras. You can donate here or for more information see PayPal link at  http://americanwomenveterans.org/home/donate/
